Barrister Isioma Ewelukwa
Partner | Insightful. Purposeful. Reliable
Isioma Ewelukwa is a dynamic legal practitioner, scholar, and reform advocate whose work bridges the gap between technical legal excellence and socially responsive innovation. A partner at Ewelukwa Legal, she brings over fifteen years of experience spanning corporate law, legislative reform, public policy, and legal education.
Called to the Nigerian Bar in 2007 (Enrolment No. SCN057565), Isioma holds an LLB (Second Class Upper) from Rivers State University, and an LLM in Corporate Law from University College London. She is currently completing her PhD at the University of Leicester, where her doctoral research explores the intersection of intellectual property regulation and public health within crisis-preparedness frameworks—a timely and strategic focus.
Before joining Ewelukwa Legal, Isioma served as Chief Law Research Officer at the Nigerian Law Reform Commission, where she played a lead role in the 2018 Nigerian Law Revision exercise and was actively involved in drafting and reviewing key legal reforms, including anti-corruption and criminal justice bills. Her contributions helped shape foundational policies such as the Nigerian Financial Intelligence Act and the Discrimination Against Persons with Disabilities (Prohibition) Act, among others.
Her legal acumen spans private practice, where she advised corporate clients and diplomatic missions, and managed complex litigation, as well as public sector leadership in law and policy reform. She is a member of the Institute of Chartered Secretaries and Administrators, and a member of the International Federation of Women Lawyers (FIDA) and the Nigerian Bar Association.
Isioma’s teaching experience at the University of Leicester reflects her deep commitment to knowledge dissemination, where she leads undergraduate tutorials in criminal law and legal analysis. She brings a global perspective to her practice, shaped by her UK-based research, international academic exposure, and cross-border legal training.
At Ewelukwa Legal, Isioma leads practice areas including intellectual property, non-profit governance, public health regulation, legislative drafting, and corporate advisory. She combines scholarly rigor with practical insight, making her an invaluable asset to clients navigating complex legal terrain—particularly those working at the intersection of law, policy, and innovation.
